Japanese High School’s Language and Cultural Visit

July 17-25, 2019

In summer 2019, 16 students and two teachers from the Makuhari Sohgoh High School in Japan visited Wisconsin for a language-culture program. The school is in the Chiba Prefecture, the sister state of Wisconsin. The program was organized by the Wisconsin Academy of Global Education and Training (WAGET) with the base of operations being Carroll University in Waukesha. The program included daily language lessons followed by a cultural activity. Students attended Festa Italiana in Milwaukee, a Milwaukee Brewers game at Miller Park, Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, the Waukesha County Fair and a fire station in Waukesha. The workshop concluded with individual presentations on what was learned and experienced. This is the sixth year of the program.
